Rabbi Elisha Friedman

Rabbi Elisha Friedman is Rabbi of Young Israel of Forest Hills, and teaches Jewish Philosophy at Yeshiva University. Outside of his classes and lectures at Young Israel, Rabbi Friedman does extensive podcasting, with the goal of making complex Torah ideas widely accessible. One of his podcast projects presents the entire work of Rav Chaim Soloveitchik on the Rambam, one of the central works of Talmud study in our times. His essays have appeared in Torah and academic journals, including Jewish Action, Tradition, RJJ Journal, Maalin Bkodesh, Yerushaseinu, The Journal of Religion (Chicago), Asif (Hesder Yeshivot) and Yarchon Haotzar.

Rabbi Friedman is warm and personable, he enjoys making jokes from the pulpit when they don't fall flat, and looks forward to being in touch with our members and anyone else who reaches out! He was ordained at Yeshiva University and previously, he served as rabbi in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Rabbi Friedman and his wife Yamit are blessed with five children, and they are thrilled to be part of the Queens Jewish community and Young Israel of Forest Hills family.
